DAWN'S BIRTHDAY WISH LIST 2008
1. New clothes- It has come to my attention that working so much and not doing much else has put a severe dent in my sense of fashion, so first and foremost I would like a new wardrobe. Head to toe. I used to have a great sense of style. Usually I was ahead of the game, which landed me in the eccentric/funky/punk category, but 9 times outta 10, I'd see stuff I'd been wearing for months in magazines labeled as the "must-have" or "hot new look". I was such a trend-setter. ;) I need my sense of style back.
2. New haircut/dye job- My poor hair really is pathetic, so I may actually spring for this one myself. I've been trying to grow it back out, but it looks so sad and lifeless. I need something with some bounce and a good colorist to give me low lights and highlights and texture. Yes! Also, a chic bob would be much easier to maintain, don't you think? My hair feels old. I think it knows it's turning 26. Moving on...
3. Tanning bed package. A lady I work with said it perfectly: "Brown fat is prettier that white fat". So true. I am pasty pale and look sick due to lack of sunshine. I actually reflect light. I used to make fun of my sister for looking this way, and now it's my turn. Since I work during most daylight hours, my alternative is the fake and bake, so a tanning package would be great. For the health freaks, just think of it as therapy, because studies show that people who lay in tanning beds are happier. It releases some chemical in your brain like the sun does. It's actually used to treat depression! So you see, I'm getting perkier and prettier. Win, win.
4. New seat covers for my sweet new ride. My baby is great, but someone ripped a hole in one of her seats, so of course I want to get covers for all of them so they match. Also, the matching steering wheel cover, visor CD case, etc. would be great as well.
5. A new vacuum. My vacuum cleaner sucks. It didn't used to. It was a faithful friend and cleaner for years, but too much cat hair has finally put it on its last legs. Roger and I are getting a new one soon, but I figured I'd throw it on the list anyways.
6. A Louis Vuitton purse. Ah yes. This has been on my wish list for years. One day, dear Louis. One day.
7. D&G or Chanel Sunglasses. I had Louis Vuitton sunglasses, but they snapped in my purse. Otherwise, they'd be at the top of the sunglasses list as well.
8. New shoes. I guess this really falls under the new clothes/wardrobe category, but I felt the need to differentiate. Anyone who knows me, knows I love shoes. They also know that it is very difficult and EXPENSIVE for me to find shoes. Thus, I am usually stuck with cheap shoes from whatever store happens to carry the same style in two very different sizes. Yes, people, my feet are freaks. Don't hate. Maybe Jimmy Choo or Manolo Blahnik would make a custom pair for me. Wouldn't that be awesome?
9. A tent and sleeping bag. You may think this has solely to do with Roger's love of camping, but don't be fooled. I used to love camping and hiking when I was younger, and I'd like nothing better than to sleep out under the stars somewhere away from everyone and everything. How peaceful that would be.
10. A trip to Vegas and a backer for my money. I can dream, can't I? I would go to shows and play poker and go to more shows.
11. A birthday card that says exactly how you feel.
12. A puppy. Everyone can agree with this one. A puppy is the greatest present! How can you not be happy and excited to see a puppy?
13. An Ipod. I don't know if I could even work the thing, but it would be fun to try.
14. Date night. I'm talking advance notice with flowers (daisies, preferably), a movie that we can both stay awake during, dinner, talking, driving out to the lake and walking around holding hands, ice cream cones or going bowling or to see a band, or to play pool, or dancing, or a picnic at the park.
15. A sudden weight loss. Wouldn't that be a great birthday present? You wake up on your birthday and you've lost 10, 20 , 30 pounds. I would be super stoked.
16. To go on a lost. I miss doing this. Just get in the car and drive until you don't know where you are, and then get out and explore. It's so much fun.
17. A Coca-Cola birthday cake from Cracker Barrel. Yum!
18. A party with all of our friends. Maybe a barbecue or something....we could play poker and do karaoke and dance, dance revolution, board games, whatever.
19. New jewelry. I like costume jewelry, so this wouldn't be so hard. I seem to have lost all my fun earrings or at least one out of each pair.
20. The complete Jane Austen on DVD. Roger got me the BBC production of Pride & Prejudice and I have the newer version of it already, plus Emma, so I just need Northanger Abbey, Mansfield Park, Sense & Sensibility, and Persuasion. I also found the Masterpiece Theater collection which would be an awesome addition.
21. Any Rogers & Hammerstein musical on DVD....Carousel, South Pacific, The King & I, Oklahoma, etc. I don't even know if they're actually available on DVD, but in my imaginary wish list world they are.
That's about it for now. I've still got a couple of weeks to keep adding to it. I'm sure I'll come up with some more outlandish requests. : ) Happy Tuesday!

Here it is, your birthday, and I couldn't make your wish list come true. Makes me sad. I did get #11. . . .and wish we could have had #16 together. We will again, someday.
I love you bunches, Pumpkin!
Always have. Always will.
